Ambitious, diverse, and heavily swayed by extraordinary sound, Fred Hills creates captivating compositions by fusing influences from around the musical world. 

Fred has written, recorded & toured with a number of esteemed UK artists including Ellie Ford, Michael Baker, Time For T & Mara Simpson. In June 2021, Fred was hired as musical director for multiple award-winning theatre show, ‘YOU’, which he composed for and performed several sold-out events at Brighton Fringe Festival. Fred’s trio consists of multi-instrumentalist/producer Andrew Stuart-Buttle and double bassist Alfie Weedon. 

Fred’s debut EP ‘Incerto’, released via Ninja Tune Production Music, draws influences from The Cinematic Orchestra, White Denim, Jose Gonzales and others. This has been brought to life through collaborative efforts with producers and sound designers; Alex Barron and Aneek Thapar, who share Fred’s vision to create music and sounds that defy genres and cross traditional boundaries. 

Inspired to play by the unique and revolutionary musicians that preceded him, Fred Hills incorporates his love of jazz, rock, prog, electronica, world and folk music into his colorful rhythms, melodic ‘open-handed’ beats and delicate guitar-based compositions.
